Punta Cabra: The Whole Story on Expedition Portal

Well I did it. I finally finished something. Over the course of a couple of days I wrote about our adventure to Punta Cabra with Kiwi and family. If you'd like to read about it- go see it here at the website Expedition Portal. Of course, I'll add an extra couple of photos that didn't make it to the Portal's adventure report here on the Adventures.

If you haven't checked out this site yet- and you're way into getting your truck, jeep or camper ready for over road cruising- THIS is the site to learn about how it's done. Check out our adventure here too.

Our First CON KSO Adventure: Punta Cabra - The Shake Down Cruise.

Welcome to the journal of our bad-ass, expedition mobile: CON KSO. Before we get into a detail filled description of this four wheeled adventure-beast here's a quick description of us, John and Liza. Check us out:

Here's our quick bio: Of the two humans you see above, I'm the uglier one. My name is John. I spend my days having a great time teaching kids about Chemistry and Marine Science. One of my favorite things to do is destroy objects with thermit. Why? Because as far as demonstrations go, it's an easy one: You've only got to stock two items (thermit and igniting sticks) and it packs a lot of punch. As in a 2000 degree punch that melts things like forks and spoons, pyrex glassware and, best of all, it almost instantly vaporizes water. The kids love it, I look like a hero and we get an excuse to walk out behind the bleachers.

I've been a high school teacher for twenty years now, at the same school that's a three minute bike ride down the street. I've been fortunate to put together a great little existence and I wake up each day amazed that I'm still pumping air and that I have the time and freedom to do things like ride motorcycles, surf fun waves and hang out with great people.

The brains and beauty of this little crew is my girlfriend, Liza. Liza's got it all, she's smart, sassy, brave, adventurous, wise and crazy. She's also the hottest girl I've ever laid eyes on. All mold's were smashed and destroyed after they made her, she's like the Mona Lisa except better looking and quite a bit larger. She's like a unicorn, a creature with that particular set of features is not meant to exist. She's the unicorn and I'm the man-warrior that has captured her. Well maybe not- I think she just tolerates me in her life; fair enough, I'll take it. Liza ranks way above me in the educational world standings- she's a shot caller, I'm a worker bee. She does great things for kids and the world is a better place because of her.

Liza loves to surf too, she's got a nice quiver of boards and has paddle surfed much of the California coast as well as South Africa, mainland Mex and Baja. Liza also loves to ride both dirt bikes and street bikes and owns a Ninja 300, a CRF250 and a KTM 400EXC (told you before... unicorn). Liza's prize possession is her daughter Dakotah who will join us on our upcoming three week, epic, southern-Baja adventure. Right now, Dakotah is working hard becoming a mechanical engineer at Georgia Tech university- she's a tough, smart kid- she rides dirtbikes, paints things, plants trees and generally makes her mom glow with pride. She's a good kid.

Here's my little child- Lilly:

Lilly is a West Highland White Terrier, the breed that the universe created as the yardstick to measure all others against. Lilly has me completely trained, is totally spoiled and is endlessly loved by all who meet her.

And finally, I present to you CON KSO, our beloved 2007, 4x4, longbed Toyota Tundra:

CON KSO deserves her whole own post, so I will sign off now, collect my thoughts about my other girlfriend and get back to this keyboard as soon as I can represent her the way she deserves.
